Urban Yoga - Cheras Plaza (3)

Urban Yoga Cheras Plaza is opened on 15 Oct 2008 (Wed) and giving free Trial Classes till end of Oct.

The ourlet looks like Yoga Zone previously but have touched up with new paints, new mats, all the places are cleaned and etc.

It remained the same with 5 studios. The reception, lounge, shower cabins, lockers and toilets are all the same structure. However the decorations are all removed and leave the reception looks vacant and empty as per the pictures below. Believe they will only decorate it with new design later as yesterday was the first day unofficially opening...

These are actually Studios 1 and 2 which the connecting doors are opened due to a number of students attended Serena's Urban Basic class @ 6:15pm yesterday.

Noticed that the mats at Studio 3, 4 and 5 are different but unable to snap any picture as the classes were going on.

The new hair dryers are fixed.

All the lockers are re-painted and all the broken locks are repaired. Now, all the lockers are usable.

The showers have been replaced with the new ones but the curtains are yet to put up. So, all the shower cabins are not usable at the moment.

Urban Yoga - Cheras Plaza (2)

The Urban Yoga Cheras Plaza is finally opened on this Wed (15 Oct 2008) and free trial classes are given. Those ex-YZ members that yet to join any yoga centers and have been stayed at home for months, now is the time to warm up again.

Hurry, check out the schedule below and be there on time as their phone line is not fixed yet. So, there is no booking and is on first come first served basis. Enjoy your classes. Cheers ^_^

Urban Yoga - Cheras Plaza (1)

A lot of yoga friends, especially ex-YZ members from Cheras start talking about the opening of Urban Yoga at Cheras Plaza. However, so many different versions... Some said it is opened on 15th Oct but some said 25th Oct. Also some told that have trial class but some said pay RM88 on the spot...

Anyway, just made a clarification with Urban Yoga that the outlet is still under renovation and will be cleaning on coming Mon & Tue. So, it will be opened on 15th Oct (Wed) and free trial classes for 2 weeks. As for the schedule, please check out the Urban Yoga Blog as they will update there once it is ready.

Will try to post more information once I got it. So, enjoy your yoga practice. Cheers ^_^

Urban Yoga To Be Opened At Cheras Plaza

Just got to know that 'Urban Yoga' has taken over the Cheras Plaza outlet and will undergo the renovation work. Believe they will open by mid of Oct or early Nov. Below is the "Notice" from Urban Yoga's blog - http://urbanyogasb.blogspot.com.

If this is the case, doubt that someone has used Lay Gaik name in YogaJess' blog claimed that 'Urban Yoga' has lost the bid to 'Fitness First'. How about other bloggers' comments? Are these the real identities, such as Marcus, TJ, Yogaman etc...?

I really respect Yogaman from the day 1 I read YogaJess' blog as I found that he is a wise man in his comments. But found that somethings not right on his comments on YogaJess' blog lately... My gut feel is right. Yogaman has just voiced up that someone used his name there!

Plaza with effect 1 Oct 2008. However, we hope you will bear with us for the time being, while we undergo some upgrading and renovation works to serve you better in future.

Studio
Only 1 studio which can accommodate up to 20 students maximum.

Environment
A small office lot located at 1st floor but nice, quiet and comfortable. Should be quite safe as it located opposite to a small police station. However, it is more convenient for those staying within or nearby this residential area as it is slightly further inside to access from the Jalan Cheras main road.

Parking
Free and there are ample of parking lots outside the shop/office lot except Wed evening as there is a ‘pasar malam’.

Type of Classes
Similar to YZ – Yoga Basic, Hatha (Basic/Intermediate), Yin, Yogilates, Fitball, Kids Yoga and Rhythm Yoga.

Schedule

• Schedule released on monthly basis, so that students can have a better planning.
• Weekdays – 4 classes a day (2 morning & 2 evening / 1 morning, 1 afternoon & 2 evening).
• Weekend – 2 to 3 classes only.
  

Teachers
Currently all are ex-YZ teachers, i.e. Sharon, Ti Mei, Christy and Lai Yee.

Fees

• Registration Fee @ RM30.
• 1st trial class is charged @ RM12.99 but is refundable upon the registration.
• Limited Class
  4x lessons @ RM88 (sign up 3 months @ RM264, and get FOC 4x lessons).
  8x lessons @ RM118 (sign up 3 months @ RM354, and get FOC 8x lessons).
• Unlimited Classes
  RM138 for 1 month.

  RM1,288 for 1 year and get FOC 1 month.

Other Choices of Yoga Centers

Another 4 more days, the receivers of YZ will tell the outcome whether to continue opearating YZ/YC or other solutions to their financial crisis. Really hope to hear a posotive answer and continue to practice yoga there. But, what if the answer given is an unfavourable one...

Okay, better do some survey now just in case... as I don't want to stop my yoga practice because of YZ's crisis. My own health is more important and my migraine came back already after stop practicing past few weeks. Found quite a number of small shoplots offer yoga but don't really like it as some of them are more likely to slimming consultants with additional package of yogas. Some offer limited classes once a week with a fixed timing and charge RM60 a month. All are not flexible, really hard to find any other yoga center like YZ -nice, comfortable, flexible, choices of classes and teachers ... sad...

Anyway, these are few which still can be considered and located within Cheras areas.

Dance Yoga

• Location : Jalan Cheras (opposite to Tesco Taman Midah near to Old Town Café Jalan Cheras)
• Studio : 3 studios. Mat is not provided, so have to bring own mats.
  ^ The Big one like a ballroom mainly for dance and function which well equipped with sportlights (for function and performance purposes).
  ^ The Medium one mainly for yoga.
  ^ The Small one is equipped mainly for Ballet practicing.
• Environment: Far behind YZ and more like shoplot concept.
• Parking: Should be easy getting parking space in front the shoplot and I think is free.
• Classes : Mixture of Yoga and Dance as named (Dance Yoga). Found that major in dancing especially Ballet.
  ^ Yoga Basic, Yoga Beginner 1 & 2, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Social Dance, Modern Dance, Belly Dance, Jazz and Aerobic.
  ^ Weekdays – 1 Yoga class in the morning @ 9:30am; 6 to 7 classes in the evening from 6:00 to 8:30pm with about 3 to 4 Yoga classes plus Jazz, Hip-Hop and others.
  ^ Weekend – Mainly Ballet and has only about 2 to 3 Yoga classes.
• Price : Registration @ RM20 (now offer @ RM8).
  ^ RM380 for 3-months unlimited classes.
  ^ RM1,298 for 1-year unlimited classes (YZ students + 1-year FOC by showing YZ membership card).
  

Jasmine Yoga

• Location - Studio 1 at Amber Business Plaza (next to Cheras LRT Station).
  - Studio 2 at Plaza Dwitasik Bandar Sri Permaisuri.
• Studio : Studio 2 can cater for a maximum of 24 students. Mats are provided.
• Environment: Okay, quiet.
• Parking: Sufficient parking lots at the Plaza Dwitasik but it is quite quiet and charge @ RM1.50 for the 1st hour, subsequent hour @ RM1.00 / RM1.50... (need to check and confirm).
• Classes : Purely Yoga. Jasmine (founder of Jasmine Yoga) commented that she teaches more on traditional yoga but she just got Christy and Ti Mei from YZ who would teach similar style as YZ.
  ^ Schedule is on per month basis.
  ^ Weekdays – 2 ro 3 classes in the morning and 2 to 3 classes in the evening.
  ^ Weekend – 2 to 3 classes.
  ^ Note – Please be advised to book and confirm before the class as it might be cancelled if too little of students, especially the Weekdays morning classes.
• Price : RM60 per month unlimited classes (only allowed to attend 1 class per day).

• Studio : 1 studio which can accommodate up to 20 students maximum.

• Classes : Similar to YZ – Yoga Basic, Hatha (Basic/Intermediate), Yin, Yogilates and Fitball. This is opened by an ex-YZ teaher (Sharon) and few other ex-YZ teachers also teaching here (Christy, Lai Yee and Samantha).
  ^ Schedule is on per month basis.
  ^ Weekdays – 4 classes a day (2 in the morning and 2 in the evening).
  ^ Weekend – 2 classes only.
• Price : Registration @ RM30.

Among all the above 3 choices, I would prefer Life Yoga but the fees there is quite expensive unless sign up for 1 year. Anyway, I will not after the experience from YZ. Too early to decide, just wait for the outcome from YZ's receiver first...
