YZ Cheras Plaza is Officially Announced Closure

YZ Cheras Plaza outlet was officially closed by the landlord this noon due to the outstanding rental for the past few months. The entrance wooden door is locked with notice and few documents sticked on the door.

The morning classes were on but evening classes were cancelled without any notice due to the sudden closure. There will be no classes at Cheras Plaza (CP) till further notice.

I was told by Stephanie that the Sri Petaling (SP) outlet was closed as well this morning when she suppose to teach the first morning class there. Due to too many students were already there, she conducted the yoga class outside the outlet in the shopping mall (Endah Parade). However, they were chased by the guards there after 45 minutes of practice. The rest of the classes of the day were cancelled.

At first, thought that the nearest outlet to CP is SP and can practice over there since CP is closed. Seems like the nearest outlets to CP and SP members now are Taman Desa or The Weld, KL. I was be informed that the members of these 2 outlets can go to Taman Desa for practice at the moment and they will try to allocate more classes there. But, a bit in doubt as the schedule for tomorrow yet to be published in the YZ website. Just spoke to Lay Gaik and be informed that there was no staff opened the SP outlet this morning for classes and sometimes they faced difficulty in staff arrangement. However, most of the time they can get better or easier arrangement at Plaza Damas outlet. As such, they are trying to allocate more classes at this outlet, so that members can attend classes there. But, I think it could be a distance problem for CP's students to go there for practice...??? So, alternate choice for CP's members will be SP and wonder Fei can update the status there as you use to go to SP outlet for practice.

plz wait for further announcement from new Management,

this is because of the failure or negotiating between landlord and new management only.

Not all ppl are able to withstand the debt of 3 month + and continue to let you use their premises, so u gotta understand both side.

the news of only 5 outlet will be taken seems true, unless more landlord willing to give a new chances for the management to retake whole thing again.

Namaste

The news is so shocking to me. Despite all the rumours going round, I had faith in YZ and thot it is so close to recovery. Wondering which other outlets will suffer the same fate soon. The potential investors shd act fast; otherwise forget it - before long, there wld be nothing left in YZ.

Yogalover, if you do speak with Ms. Lim Lay Gaik, pls let her know we really miss our evening classes at The Weld! Am sure CP members wld like it there too.

Received sms from member from YZ Damas that new management will takeover from Monday. Members will be charged RM88 per month. Haven't been there since last month although there are classes from 2/9/08. Already joined private classes conducted by Azmi, Lila and Matthew at a studio at Plaza Damas for September.

Joshua,

That's not the way to do things, never give members a proper announcment. This I think is worst than the previous management! Where is the profesionalism, care for members, etc?

What they do is more like "buying" time and slowly close down one by one.

Maybe they feel it's not good to lie to members (give empty promises) that they will continue to operate thus they don't put any proper notice, but at least provide us some information rather than we guessing.

Anyway, the Y Fitness in Centro Klang suffers the same, YZ didn't pay the rent. This Friday (5th September 2008), the YF Members will be having a meeting with Centro Management on this issue, press willl be there too.

Agree to Joshua's comments that not all the landlord would compromise with long due outstanding rental. In fact, Lay Gaik was at Cheras Plaza yesterday's afternoon meeting the landlord there. Believe the negotiation was failed as mentioned by Joshua.

Found that lesser classes today. Only Puchong (2x Morning), Kepong (2x Morning), Plaza Damas (4x Morning), Taman Desa (2x Morning) and The Weld (2x Morning & 2x Afternoon).

I also heard that the new investors will be coming in to take over Plaza Damas and Kepong outlets first as the landlords there approached them directly. But didn't know that is so soon by coming Mon... Is the charges @ RM88a special rate for YZ members or everyone? Karin, do you have any other further details?

Yoga Club Taman Desa is splashed with red paint again. When I went there at 8am, I was aghast to see red paint, and I was stunned for a while. I went back home to take my camera, and 10 mins later, when I was back at YC, I saw a van with an elderly couple outside laying newspaper on the paint.

I guess those must be TJ's parents.

I'm just so sad to see that people have resorted to throwing red paint just to get something done. I saw the stressed looks on the elderly couple, and I think it's not fair that they be subjected to this kind of emotional duress.

Karin said...

I think RM88 per month is for existing YZ members only. I have not received any further details yet. will keep you all posted when i have any news.

Pinky,

Red paint again? show us some photos? I think it's Lay Gaik's parents, as she's the boss now.

Unknown said...

Don't forget, there is another outlet in puchong, which is nearer for CP and SP members.

But there is no electricity and water supply in this outlet, teacher lights up candles to conduct classes.

Unknown said...

Red paint? TJ's parents??
Lil' Ms Pinky, is ur news really updated r?

TJ don't even bother yz anymore!

Yoga Lover said...

Wonder who are this old couple being nice to clean up there as agree to Fei that TJ won't care YZ anymore.

Btw, are the classes there also cancelled due to this incident?Thought that the receiver should do something on this matter.

Anonymous said...

Just heard from cheras member that the kepong got red paint splash also... went to take some photos.

Anonymous said...

I thought tj is not allowed to do anything anymore as the receivers and lay gaik supposed to take charge? Sigh...
Heard that there are investors but why act so slow? Or are there really any investors? Receivers should let us know the truth! We have been waiting for long enough.

Yoga Lover said...

OMG! Is it true that both Taman Desa and Kepong's outlets being splashed by the red paint? Can someone email me the photos as proof via yogalover88@gmail.com as wonder why the "ah long" still acting this like no law... Moreover, YZ is now under receivership...

Anonymous said...

Is that because of the splashes done to Kepong & Tmn Desa cause no class conducted this evening for both outlet?

I drive passed kepong outlet this morning & saw that red paint splashed on the wall next to the entrance!

Sigh!! sickening for all this stupid action by ?????? !!

sigh.. i want to attend classes only, why Lim Lay Gaik and receivers not doing anything? anyone knows are they really have intention to do good for Yoga Zone? i think they are much more worse than the previous management, previously the TJ also came out to face members, talked to teachers, the LIM LAY GAIK didnt do anything at all..

members,
the red paint in kepong outlet is cleaned for the floor area and i will cover the wall part later with the newspaper, dont worry about it as the class are still ongoing.

Yogalover,
the rm88 is the monthly payment charges to all member, regardless of package they are using, so the payment will be(Existing member pays 88 for a month)and (new member pay 150 for a month)

for anoymous,
you know how malaysian do their works, and how much "mafan" since its related to court.

for all,
i am not on anybody sides, i just still volunteer to open outlet and give all member attend class, once its revive, i might work again, or will it close, you;ll no longer see me either. hate me or backstab me, your choices,

Just go to my blog as for further update, as its reserve for kepong member to booking class.

Tried to call Sri Petaling & Puchong centre since morning but no pick up. Are both centres also declared closure? Anyone has any updates on these centres?

Anonymous said...

Ya. I can see YZ is getting worse after the receivership! and worse is the receiver never inform the members face to face about the faith of YZ and what they plan to do. MS LIM LAY GAIK, i hope you can communicate with the receiver you call in to revive YZ. As a member, i think we need to know the future plan and what we gonna do. I have totally no confidence with YZ now, is the RM 88 or RM 150a gimmick to con us, the member's money. Is this LIM LAY GAIK's plan? or the receiver's plan? Who is representing YZ now? I am confused!

Anonymous said...

Joshua,

"mafan" is one thing, giving proper notice and information to member is another thing.

Is it so hard to give a little care for the members?

So we members paid this much, being treated like that, and we have to understand how the management feel and their hardship, instead of them understanding us.

Imagine those who are not internet savvy or know anything, they're simply lost and don't know what's going on.

yogababy said...

I was at the Weld today for the afternoon classes. The evening classes are also "on" according to the girl working there.

Yoga Lover said...

Now, in total 3 outlets already cloased - BBT, CP & SP. The classes at Puchong also reduced but notice the classes at Taman Desa and Plaza Damas have been increased. Moreover, there is news that new investor going to take over the Plaza Damas outlet soon and impose charges to existing members.

I urge the Receiver should call for a meeting to see the members to clarify all the above and update the status as all the members are in the dark. Otherwise, there might have members still going to Plaza Damas without knowing that they have to pay fees to new investor as not every member is internet savvy and reading the news here and there...

Hi Pinky,
Thanks, I saw the Taman Desa photos in your blog - http://lilmspinky.blogspot.com

Hi Ling Ling,
Yes, the YZ CP is closed. I saw the notice sticked on the entrance door with lock and a lady guard was sitting outside the outlet at 5th floor (as per the photo I posted yesterday).

I don't see why we have to pay anything anymore. I paid RM4500 for a "LIFE" membership. Now I have to pay RM88 again every month to attend classes? This is ridiculous.

Does anyone has the means to contact Miss LG Lim? I think us members need to get our money back, especially the Gold Cycle members.

I just wanna learn yoga in peace. Why does it have to be so troublesome?

well, i went to Damas today as both Cheras and SP are closed. glad that Ken, Jess and PAri are still there teaching. thank you all.
i was at the receptionist there and came one lady asking the front desk about the update. according to her, YZ will be closed down and name will be changed. No Longer YZ anymore and only left 2 centers which is Damas and Kepong. last class will be till this sunday and after that, class will be closed for a week for renovation, cleaning and so. it'll resume on the 15th with new mgmt and of course new fee which the existing members (regardless of what package you've paid)still have to fork out RM88 per month to continue.
well, that's sad enough but when i reach the ladies...it's even worse. it's not fully litted up and i think there's no water supply in the toilet. well i was suppose to attend pari's class but i couldnt help the creepy feeling inside me and attended jess's class and leave straight after class. Jess, you're great.

it's so sad...seeing such good org. and now..well prolonging the procedure will not "keep" the customers, in fact "customer" like me and my other fellow members will only feel very "fan kam" of the things happening....i'm not putting the blame on anyone..just a general statement

But we still have to move on. there's a huge sign board near Damas traffic light advertising for True Fitness..heard from my friend that their Bikram yoga is very good. any comments? any idea where are all the teachers teaching now? miss all of their classes..

just found out that YZ damas will be closed for 1 week and the new management will only start operating from 15 Sept 08. They will start charging RM88 for existing members; GC or lifetime members.

Heard that the condition of the outlet presently is very bad due to no water supply. I was there on 27/8 and wanted to put my stuff in the ladies locker room but had to run out immediately as the place really stinks!

Joshua, you have been kind & patient & still consisently opening the doors to the Kepong members, eventhough I don't go there!

Members of Kepong, pls understand that Joshua is acting upon his kindness & ppl should have more understanding that this is not his fault & stop hitting at him, please...we are all in the same situation.

I've paid recently RM1,800 & still have not got the chance to utilize the membership. RM88 is not much but why should we subject outselves to the uncertainty of whether the doors are going to be opened the following days or are we going to be surprised by red paint & doors shut?? I felt so distressed by all these, not because there's no place to practice but also the foreign teachers & staff that's left in the dark. So, please start having empathy for others, & not only for yourself.

Great teachers has most left YZ. I would!!!

Joshua,

Don't misunderstand, who is fighting with each other? We're all complaining about the new management's action here.

Giving too much information? Erm, it's more like, there is no information at all, but "Closed Until Further Notice".

Because of poor notice, more stories are created, ppl make assumptions and nobody can know what is real and what is not. It's just "I heard". But if the managenment can at least put up a notice, just let members know some information; then at least, we can use that information to PROVE to those who is just making assumptions, at least.
And at least, we know what is going on and what they're doing.
Now? It's just hear and say, you say, she say, he say, they say, I heard, you hear, he hear, she hear, etc.

That's why, because of no proper notice, you have to explain to people all day. If they have provided proper notice, at least, people can see and then go back, rather than, "OMG! What happen? Why closed?"
Then take handphone, call friends, relatives, uncle, aunties, ah kong, ah mah, and spread news

We are customers, do we have to consider for the Managment? WOW!
So, this is how Malaysian works? Impressive!
Not to mentioned, the management never considers about the customers!
This world terbalik already.

I've arranged for teachers to teach at my condo. Dr.Ameen is coming today.

Maybe ppl should start thinking of engaging private classes with teachers. Gather 10 ppl & hire the teachers. They are still not paid for 3 months!!! & working voluntarily. Why pay YZ RM88? They might not pay the teachers & staff still!!! Go organize private classes & pay the teachers directly!!!!

I am sad to read the post on 5 Sept 2008, 12:33 am by Anonymous - that customers were told by Plaza Damas reception that only Damas and Kepong outlets will continue to be opened. So all the rumours abt other outlets being closed down are true? Ms Lim Lay Gaik and the receivers shd step forward and make a public announcement on this (at YZ website and at all the outlets). I am willing to pay RM88.00 to continue at The Weld but not at Damas or Kepong. If The Weld is closed, I want our money back.

Ms Lim just called this morning and not all the outlets to be closed but the investor will take Plaza Damas and Kepong first. One at a time.

i just wondering what's the point of taking over the business but all membership will not be honored??????

One thing for sure, upset members will definitely influence their friends & relatives who might be potential member! At the end of the day, the new boss will only have the “Brand New Studio”, “Brand New Company Name”, and a “Brand New Failure” in his/her new venture????

Let talk abt reality, is this RM88 will be a permanent charges for all existing members? As long as they’re continue their membership? Will it be a fee increase after few months?

RM150 for public, and it’s unlimited! This is much higher then previous Yoga Zone yearly package (RM1488/RM1688)!!!! Mind as well seeking for other yoga center! We might get better deal then!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Yogalover, for being messenger for Ms. Lim Lay Gaik. I am glad to read the clarification from Ms. Lim. The wrong info given by Damas reception is causing more damage than good. But to give them the benefit of the doubt - maybe even the reception staff themselves have not been properly informed by the receivers, and were only telling customers based on rumours they heard.

In any event, I have checked around and was informed that generally, teachers and staff do not believe that The Weld will survive. Reason is that the sales there is very poor, and there is a lot of competition from fitness and health centres nearby like Philip Wain, Fitness First and California fitness etc ... And to add salt to injury, after the last few weeks, YZ has a bad reputation now - people are too scared to put money with YZ. Sighh ......

Personally - and I don't know how others feel - I like YZ more! I kinda felt angry when I came up the escalator to the 3rd floor of The Weld to go to YZ a few weeks ago, and .... I landed up at Philip Wain's registration booth as I came off the escalator! P/Wain was ready to devour customers as they come up to 3rd floor. I think it's downright cheap of Philip Wain to resort to that. I will be so sad to have to settle for P/Wain if YZ close down at The Weld.

Anonymous said...

The new investor must have been get out of mind, RM 88 for a month and not recognizing our package? This must be the biggest joke in the world. Simple calculation, my package is RM1,488 one year; equals to RM 124 a month, plus now the so-called RM 88 a month, it sum up to
RM 212! I may pay for it if the quality of teachers/number of classes/number of outlets/quality of service/ the brand name remains unchanged, else, can just forget about it. There are lots of yoga place better than this, at least less stressful environment.

Unknown said...

Why i still need to paid an extra ???? Do i need to trust them again ???? I'm oledi very burden to paid my credit card installment??? I only want to know, isnt YZ no hope anymore...rather than i waste my time to wait....

Yoga Lover said...

Hi Sinar,

I'm also wish that need not to pay as I already paid to YZ. However, YZ is in trouble and has no money in the account at all but full with debts. Heard that in fact Lay Gaik and the new investor have paid the volunteered teachers & staffs for the past 2 weeks' salaries from their own pockets.

So, just consider no more YZ and if we wish to continue to practice yoga, we still need to pay. It is just matter we want to pay to some other yoga centers or the new company that take over YZ that offer special rate to existing YZ members at RM88. But, just wonder is this RM88 only for temporary or as a long term special as commented by someone here earlier...

Anonymous said...

arggghh....i am totally very frustrated with the current management of YZ. How can they keep quiet and avoiding the members! Dear all, is there anything that we, as a member or consumer can do? can we go lodge a report to the police station? the consumer court?

Yoga place is not like an ordinary business, without the real yoga spirit and soul is not easy to manage the business. Is not as simple as applying formula to this and that. The receiver might be good in numbers but i believe yoga is a people business more than anything else. So now the receiver will just go according to numbers....close this outley...close that outlet. If they decided to close The Weld and the reason being is the business is poor and a lot of competitions, aren't the receiver should think of a way to revive the business instead of closing them? And the next thing, i am guessing they will close Plaza Damas (near to TRUE FITNESS), close YC Klang (near to Fitness First), same case goes to Puchong, Cheras, Sri Petaling and Tmn Desa.... so where should i go? and why we need to pay RM 88?.......

Anonymous said...

Please, please receivers/ lay gaik whoever..DO NOT CLOSE THE WELD. If you have a strong marketing team, THE WELD will bring in more customers n business

Anonymous said...

dear yoga lover, i know anyway we still need to pay if we decided to learn yoga in some other yoga center. but the thing is YZ situation is getting worse since the receivership, of course i don't bother who is managing the company as long as is good. But the fact does show that it is getting worse.

As i am also in business, just my personal opinion and based on the history of receivership cases in malaysia, seriously having the reciever will not help the situation but making it worse. First is the receiver will also need to be paid! They are external party. If the company has no money, where they get the money to pay the receiver and they aren't cheap. So i am wondering the RM 88 goes to them or the teacher first. above all the receiver has never spoke to the members, so i am wondering are they really doing their work? or someone else is directing the ship?

and to be frank, many good teachers have already left YZ, the condition of the outlets are also getting worse. i loved YZ very much, but i feel there is not the same anymore, is like KFC without the colonel and mcdonalds without the happy clown.

Yoga Lover said...

Hi anonymous (the unknown businessman member),

Agree to you that the receiver is not cheap and YZ already has no money with an empty shell. I would not pay the RM88 if this money goes to the reciver as it could be the same incident as the RM99 campaign previously. I would only consider if the new investor comes in with new brand name, since I'm looking other yoga center with YZ teachers for practice as it already the fact that YZ is getting worse and couldn't really run the normaly operations, too stress to keep on follow up. I just want to practice yoga in peace of mind for my good health like last time.

yogalover,

to anoymous,
frusterated or not, you still need to pay, just like how i can tell my member, all our money(related to YZ) already dropped into the deep sea, hardly hope to found it back already...so paying this overall just a step to sign yourself as new YZ member again.

Anonymous said...

If the confirmed extra rate that the existing member have to pay is RM88, and even if this worked out to be costing less than signing up to a new yoga/fitness centre, i will be very sceptical, why still want to flush more cash down the longkang? better that all the members collect this money to hire a good lawyer and get back what we paid for.what say u ?:p

Anonymous said...

From the meeting at Centro,
this is what one of the lawyer in practice said about the receivers:
"They're all LIARS"

This is what one of the YF instructor said:
The receivers keep pushing away the investors, sort of like buying time, waiting and waiting, probably for a good price.

This is what is also mentioned, it's hardly possible for them to take over; even if they do, there is NO guarantee they will not close down again.

So, unless a reputable and reliable company take over or invest in, you're just taking yet another risk, a MORE risky one.

Anonymous said...

Receivers are basically blood-suckers Dracula, being in corporate world for years, these privately appointed receivers normally comes with the intention to suck out whatever resources available in the company, then they will call for a 'winding up' action to the court, giving an excuse that the business is not viable anymore, ultimately throw the ball to Official Receiver, a government body, to clean the shit. A professional receiver company will act neutral and do a proper thorough feasibility study of the business, then come out with a proper report to submit to court by suggesting the next best action, i.e. Winding up, looking for potential investors etc.
Looking at the situation, the previous poor TJ and now poor Lay Gaik were busy looking for investors ( cause they are still the shareholders and directors of the company ), it clearly reflects the quality of this receivers.
I couldn't understand some of us are still having hope, once I knew that Yoga Zone is under receivership, I already called the story an end and decided to self-practice at home ( been looking around and sad to say, Yoga Zone had set the unbeatable benchmark in teachers' quality, ambience and pricing despite of the turnout now ).
Old management? New management? Eventually, only one winner, the receivers.
However, the petition power can be formed to file in to the court related to the non-transparency practice of the receivers and if they are found guilty, the licence can be revoked by the relevant authority as the company is now completely under their control, though TJ or Lay Gaik may have ways to revive the company, but the ultimate say is still in their hands.
Good bye, YZ.

Anonymous said...

This is a shareholder appointed receivership. Unlike a creditor appointed receivership under a debenture, the shareholder cannot take advantage of the receivership to con the members by asking the members to pay further fees and not paying their debts. We are creditors in every legal sense. The shareholder cannot escape their debt obligations by selling out their shareholdings by way of a receivership. I have not heard of any receivership being able to turn around this type of business where there are no assets and relied heavily on staff(in particular the yoga teachers)to continue the business, reputation and integrity already in the "longkang". Members should instead contribute the "RM88" to a legal fund and pursue legal action against the shareholders & directors for fraud and challenge the sale of the shares using the receivership route so that they do not need to honour their obligations. Professionally, the receivers should and must meet up with members, who are their lifeline for revival of the business. By keeping quiet is rather unprofessional and irresponsible. The other shareholders not involved in current "con" receivership should petition the court and sue them for killing the business.

i think the only resort to practice yoga is to go to some other yoga center. But i also worry that the other small scale yoga center might also face financial problem in the future (no offence)..... err. i think is safer to join the bigger yoga center right? But i heard some of my friends commented that the fitness center's yoga classes are very poor. sigh....

Yoga Lover said...

Hi Anonymous (8th Sep @ 3:22pm),

Most of other smaller scale of yoga centers allow monthly fees or seasonal pass (charge by classes attended). Some even allow a trial class. So, you may try them first while waiting the outcome from the new investor as lesser classes availble at lesser outlet now. But, be reminded not to tight up yourself with long term membership (quarterly, yearly, lifetime) no matter how good the offer it is, learnt the lesson from YZ.

But one thing, the charge at most of the yoga centers can't compete with YZ previous good price. So, if the new investor really offers RM88 for existing YZ member with the same quality of service and same group of teachers, I will consider to sign up as YZ already gone and no hope already. If we intend to continue practice yoga, most of the yoga center we looked for (as per my own survey) can't offer such a good price nor facilities...

Wish you have a Good Health and don't give up your yoga practice just because of this YZ incident as nothing wrong with yoga, just the matter of the company running the business. Cheers ^_^
