Got a big SHOCK this early morning when login to my blog read all the comments that yogaloft is wind up; closed in Dec for renovation; members tried calling yogaloft (03-7875 5848) for the past 2 days but no one picked up the calls; all the dedicated teachers such as Dawid, Zen, Sean and etc were terminated by the company without prior notice; the ambassadors' email accounts were removed and etc. Is it True?
My first reaction was have to call Ms Ellen from yogaloft for clarification. She was the one got my contact number from an ex-YZ teacher and contacted me for the first time on 5th Nov morning with a courtesy request to remove the press conference invitation from my blog due to some typo error [which I posted on 4th Nov 2008 with the title "yogaloft (1)"]. She also gave me another courtesy call on Monday morning (1st Dec) that requested not to publish the studio photos first as it is still under renovation (I did ask permission when taken the photos).
Anyway, have called her and been told that it is not true that to wind up yogaloft but it is closed for the month of Dec 2008 for full renovation. It will be reopened in Jan 2009 and all the members are already being notified via calls from yogaloft and none of the teachers is being terminated. But I was in doubt why the members were so anxious and worried with the above comments if they were already being notified. So, I asked for a contact number which allow members to call for further clarification. She is kind and helpful during the conversation and gave me the HQ number @ 03-7880 2210 [same number as given by an Anonymous posted in the post of "yogaloft (2)] and look for Ms Carine who is the HR Manager. I just wonder why to contact a HR Manager instead of a Sale or PR Manager... But, I didn't ask further as my mind was so busy thinking so much thing - what happen to the members that have signed up and paid such an expensive deposit. I don't hope this would be the second YZ case that Money is Conned in Yoga. It is not easy for those yoga practitioners that being conned one time and regain the confidence to join another yoga center just with one objective, i.e. continue yoga practice. PLEASE, PLEASE, don't hurt them for second time.
Thereafter, I login to my Gmail to check whether any update (as some of the bloggers are nice to update me via emails from time to time) about this issue before I could post it here. I got a second SHOCK.
One of the regular bloggers here (she is an ex-YZ member who has recently signed up and paid to yogaloft) sent me a long email telling about this issue. Just to summarise it, Zen (ex-YZ teacher who is working with yogaloft) called her late last night and told that she has just lodged a police report against yogaloft. She also told that TJ was one of the team helped in setting up the studios but was being kicked off now. The ex-YZ teachers (of course Zen and believed others could be Dawid, Sean and etc.) are siding TJ and already resigned and etc.
It was a long story like another drama after YogaZone. In fact, I don't intend to mention anything about TJ as every time his name appear here, for sure a war will start. Anyway, don't wish to reveal any of their politics there but only CONCERN about the members that have signed up and paid. It would be better to further clarify with them as members were told that they would enjoy unlimited free classes in Dec if they signed up. The package sound nice as "attend first and pay later". But, upfront members already paid a huge sum of deposit, 1 month downpayment and some administration fees. So, it would be better to have a clearer picture of this yoga center as they should take care of the signed up members' benefits.
Dear yogaloft members, please do update here if anyone of you manage to find out further reliable clarification from yogaloft as all the signed up members are worried. Hope everyone would be fine and appreciate if any of the yogaloft personnel or the teachers that beinng claimed that have been terminated by the company could post your comments here as clarification. THANK YOU!

Oh well, look at it the bright side, perhaps etsu is right with their choice to terminate the "OLD" thorn & all his armies before it infects further.
Just wait lah, from the photos of the unfinished studios, how to operate in Dec? But I am sure those that signed up must be "tak boleh tidur makan now" tsk tsk, poor thing, better pray hard that's is just another rumour.

Please do share a positive view and your love to all the yogis. At this kind of situation, we should help in any ways to find out further clarification or others in order to comfort those affected practitioners. Nothing is so happy or excited if they can't eat well or sleep well... Do have sympathy to them as we experienced it once during YZ crisis.
Everyone has a different need and may be they found yogaloft met their expectation and could fulfill their needs. So, nothing wrong with their decision but sad that if yogaloft starts another yoga crisis not long after YogaZone...
I do agree and pray hard that this is rumour and our yoga friends here won't get any hurt second time. Please help to pray for them too.
Personal opinion: don't ever pay huge sum or long term package no matter how attractive it is at the moment until you really comfortable and trust it with the facts. I'm currently paying per month basis, no doubt it is slightly expensive than my other friend pay, but just to play safe and could change to other yoga center as and when different needs arise (could be doe to schedule changed and not fit to you anymore, change of teachers and etc).
Why is this happening all over again? So disappointing :(
Just received a call from Etsu office in sea park,she told me that they will reopen in jan due to ongoing renovation ,and she said I have the option of either requesting for a refund ( payment in chq to be collected fr their office) or they can hold my deposit and I can start class in Jan. I decided to ask her to hold the deposit for the timebeing,but if i change my mind later i will ask for a refund.
dont get conned from the Etsu office call from Taman Mayang- Zen's salary for Nov -cheque was stop payment and they have terminated all their contractors

My Personal View: If the refund is not that tedious, troublesome and cost anything, I would opt for refund as feel safe if my money is on my own hands. I can still have the same choice by paying them again when they really open in Jan in operation. Otherwise, I'm not losing anything either...

Guys, I came across this blog and I am quite saddened by this news. I can't believe how easily members can be cheated nowadays. But having said that, with the benefit of doubt for Yogaloft, it might really be on Reno and will reopen in January. Let's all hope for the best.
These type of news really makes me lose confidence in joining any Yoga centres. I am personally a new member in mYoga...I hope I do not fall into such sentiments.

I'm myoga member too, the consultant can't stop pushing me the "zenith" package, no way, i don't believe in international companies anymore expecially you can see so mnay of the banks closed down recently.
if opening first outlet also like that, i really wonder how etsu company work things! dumb enough to surface their problem with the coinsultant and employees and somemore explaning the reason to do so.

I think we better clarify the whole issue first instead just judge that yogaloft going to wind up as we could be caught in a difficult situation being claimed that simply accused as yogaloft told the members that they are only closed for renovation and will re-open in Jan 2009.
We can only argue that they could have mis-conducted the members upon signing as members being told that they could enjoy unlimited classes in Dec if they signed up now.
As for the resigned teachers issue, only the affeceted teachers are at a better position to claim and comment about the issue with their company as they know better what is going on. We as a third party, general comments would be fine rather than anything further (I think you know what I meant).
if first time, ok lah; but after yz, i think jason bak is doing it purposely to con the members. anyone has their company's full name and number? i want to check them out!

Well, we need to hear the story from both sides, and my advise is check it out by your own for those have signed up. Don't just simply refer to certain comments here blindly, as we never know who posted it.

We don't know how reliable on certain comments here or it may take different treatment on individual case. So, better check out soonest possible for your own benefit.
We should hear both parties' comments but unfortunately no one from yogaloft personnel and teachers (may be some of the Anonymous here who not willing to reveal their identity) are here to clarify.

Yes, yogaloft website is in black states "we are closed".
Just received a call from Ms Ellen (in fact she is the PR & Marketing of etsu wellness for beauty product and help in yogaloft setup). She clarified that:
- they appointed a consultant team for the yogaloft setup. This consultant team in charged in the design, construction, renovation and webpage design. But there is something happened between etsu well and this project team casued the webpage shown blank and they couldn't do anything as this webpage is registered under this consultant.
- only one of the staff was terminated due to misconducted while other teachers and ambassadors were resigned by temselves.
- they are busy calling all the affected members to offer eiter refund or leave the deposit with them till the yogaloft opening but will offer them a compensation package.
- initially refund is in term of checque and due to some negative comments in my blog, they agree to refund by cash as well now.
- etsu wellness is taking action against the project consultant team and will engage another team to continue the setup. But due to the festive season now, believe everyting will be delayed as most of the contractors are busy.
I did ask her to claify this in my blog here to give an assurance and comfort the affected members but she said tey don't want to make this issue more complicated. They have called the affected members and ready to refund. Action will be taken.
My personal opinion, if yogaloft willing to refund in cash, then all the affected members better take a quick action for your refund and wait till they are really officially opened. Time will tell since they said action is in progress.
This is the best we can do at the moment.

as an employee myself, i do appreciate my work, i will only make a decision to leave my company if something bad or not right happen. hmmmm i guess something fishy happen in there. to all members, i also agreed with yogalover to take back all your money first.
i called to yogaloft office to clarify, no one seems to know anything and they pass me around like a fool. the whole office seems like only one person is working.
my colleague whom are working at Plaza Kelana Jaya told me the renovation has been stopped a week before the closed down, that is why she is hesitate to join the center first.
whatever their story is doesnt matter- they should compensate their pioneer members who trusted them (the company and ambassador) and compensate members out of goodwill for extra even maybe (free mat?)
Their office said that members can go to their office after lunch at 2pm to collect their cash back but bring back the mat to them!

I just read through the comments and particularly your quotes from Ellen:
1. For your information, Ellen is neither operations nor HR in etsu wellness, she's only a brander ( brand and marketing department ), hence, I would like to inform all the bloggers and readers that her allegation of "misconduct" is baseless.
2. I am here to represent Nicole Chen, Dawid Lee, Sean Fong and myself to post the following incidents happen for the past few days.
On 2nd December 2008, our Sales and Progressive Business Development Strategist (Manager), Mr Edwin Joseph Peter, inform us that yogaloft will be closed for renovation the next day.
We are so worried as we already started to sign up members since two weeks ago, we also promised to them that the outlet will be ready within the month of November 2008 and they can enjoy free classes till December 2008.
This sudden notice leaves us nowhere and no reason to answer our customers as they signed up yogaloft package because of the trust and confident towards our ethics in work and commitment, at the same time, we are not given further instruction on where to be located to continue our work from today onwards.
We demand a proper notice with explanation to notify the customers and also a written explanation to us in professional way as by following the company’s instruction, you had caused us to misled the customers that could be a criminal breach of trust.
We were also forced by Mr. Edwin Joseph Peter verbally many times to submit our resignation letter since 2nd December 2008. This is truly unethical because we are fully committed to etsu wellness Sdn Bhd by working wholeheartedly.
We did demand an explanation from Mr. Jason Bak doing so as he is the superior that we signed the letter of appointment with.
During the tele-conversation with Mr. Jason Bak at 4pm, 2nd December 2008, he mentioned that he will stop our pay cheque that supposed to be my last month salary. This is extremely unacceptable as the finance department had just given us the cheque in the morning.
Mr. Edwin Joseph Peter also asked us to handover the keys and everything related about my work tasks to him immediately. He even snatched the bunch of keys from me buy grabbing my wrist, this can be witnessed by my fellow colleagues, included Dawid Lee.

We were informed by her goodself that she has nothing to do with etsu wellness Sdn Bhd anymore and asked us to meet a person called Alan Yee, which we have never liase with before.
All these events had cornered us and it shows to us vividly that the company intends to constructively dismiss us.
We would like to let everybody know that we are always committed to our job and we had sacrificed plenty of job offers in order to be part of yogaloft. We’ll not compromise with the harsh and hard tactics that the company is using to dismiss us. I don't know what has happened between the etsu wellness/yogaloft and the appointed consultant. But, whatever disputes between them has caused others become the victims. Just hope all the affected members can get back the cash refund at their corporate office tomorrow after lunch @ 2:00pm as mentioned by the Anonymous (4th Dec @ 5:18pm).

If this webpage is managed by yogaloft, I don't think they will post this kind of message, right? Just find something not right.
Anyway, no matter what is it or any disputes between them and their consultant, as long they are willing to refund to the affected members, it considered a good news. Really hope they all really can get back their cash refund tomorrow.

we need to inform you that we have nothing to do with the consultants, don't blame the consultants, they have nothing to do with this issue. They are also one of the victims.
Pity those contractors that work round the clock, Daniel from Ecological, you and your team are the heroes! ( the wet and heavy work contractor ) Auntie Amy ( glass/ mirror supplier ), bravo! Mr. Lim, the carpenter for 8nergy counter, you are the magician! Uncle Choi, your plaster ceiling work is superb! Uncle Hai, your painting work is simply an art! etsu wellness sdn bhd dismissed all the contractors above without paying the balance of payment, some even the initial deposits as they simply believe in this international brand!
some of the contractos have to bear with heavy debts and to the extend of not be able to continue thier livelihood! The boss is just finding excuses not to pay them, maybe this is blessing in disguise to four of us and we shall consider ourselves lucky in comparison to them.

And then you called some of my friends to come to yogaloft for free trial class, but not me? why? was it because i told you that borrowing money from customers is not an ethical thing to do?

when tj pay you back your outstanding salary by winning the case, then you will say tj is the king again, yeah hoh...lay gaik share is 10%=RM 600,000, then tj, my suggestion is to sue for your 90% share=RM 5.4 million.

if open on january, can give an exact timeline? I thought that they mentioned verbally that they only need another 2 weeks to complete the renovation?
we put long eye to see when they will open, but when they open i will not join!

It is common that people having same name. Some yoga friends here could have the same name as some of the popular teachers or same name as other yoga friends here as well. But, don't think the blogger named Ethan, Ethan's Wife and Auntie Ethan has any relation to the ex-YZ/existing Urban Yoga Pilates' teacher Ethan Chang. I have just clarified this. So, don't attack to this Pilates teacher. Thank You.

sometimes i just wonder whether a pilates instructor comes with yoga mind or not.
imagine, tj die and bleeding all over right in front of you and you are the person who can see he exhale the last breathe.
followed by the questions:
1. will you be very happy to see this happens?
2. will you celebrate for his death with your buddies - ken and step?
3. will you delcare the day as the public holidays if you are the prime minister?
4. will you really gain any extra knowledge after that?
5. will you be a better person after his death?
from the comments that you posted, i believe your answers are all YES. I always believe in giving a way for others to live their life, as you never know when you may want the favour from others.
My religion teach me not to hate but to love more; learn to forgive from the bottom of my heart and don't just keep deep down the heart; don't take away the possession that belonged to others;
help as you can and never hurt even though you can; doing good to others so that the next person can pay it forward.
yoga teaching is also holding the similiar principles, if a yogi wants to be a true yogi, first and foremost, learn the principles. There are lots of yoga teachers that can be very experienced but lack of the charisma to join their class as they may lack of the mind of yoga, this is the principle i hold it well throughout my yoga practice.
you can see things from different angle and different aspects, but it doesn't mean we deserve the right to harm/ attack others. We don't really need to always win over the battle, let it go sometimes and you can be a happier person.
i suggest you to participate in the meditating class, which will definitely help you to cleanse your mind a bit more.

We are sorry for the development in Yogaloft. The incident in YZ has caused us lost confident in package deal. This incident gave us another booster against package deal.
Lucky for us in Puchong. In end Sep/08 about 10 ex YZ yogis gather and invite Apple to teach us in the following Venue: - Aerobic Hall(Dewan Waja Diri-near squash courts), Komplek Rakan Muda, Jalan TTP 1/3 Taman Perindustrian Puchong. Each member contribute Rm60/month. Initially we have 8 classes in Oct. Thanks for the delicate work of the committee members and all the members, our YogaSpirit group has grown to more then 20 member and we have 16 classes in Dec.

I can understand your frustration towards this so called “Ethan” or “Ethan CKW”, so am I. But just would like to clarify here that someone has misused some other people’s name to create their own drama here.
It is common that people could have the same name but these so called “Ken Lim”, “Ethan”, “Ethan CKW” and “Ethan Wife” are not those ex-YZ teachers but they claimed like they are… So, please do reconsider the comments given by them earlier.
In fact, I have removed and also filtered some new comments sent in by them midnight and this morning. All are nonsense and non-yoga related comments but trying to create anger on the yoga friends here. So, please don’t be caught in their tricks. If we get anger to these teachers and their fans came out to protect, then war will be started started, it means they have achieved their goal to get their drama on. So, we must be cool…
At one time I got really pissed off this midnight as I was so tired and they non-stop attacking and some other genuine bloggers start blaming and upset. I have no choice to put all comments on moderation mode. Woke up early this morning and attended a yoga class (as stop practising for the past 2 weeks). Calm down and start cleaning now. Feel much more better now… ^_^
