zen, a good teacher???
depending i thought...
she was only adjusting her selected student...she like to force and push student in her YIN class ( as i know we cant force ourself when practise yin, mmm... maybe im wrong la.... )
anyway i seldom attend her class, i strongly believe that " until our body limit" no need to force, it is not a competition.

Anonymous said...

Hahaha...I don't like to attend Zen's class too. I feel uncomfortable especially when she push me from the back when doing those sitting forward bent position. My body is quite stiff and I really feel so pain. Anyway, as a student, we can choose whose class to attend, so just choose a teacher you like. No need to force.

Anonymous said...

Kinda agree with anonymous (26Oct@4:58 PM) actually. Attended Zen's yin class once before, but then never liao...haha

Dawid is quite good, enjoyed his class last time.

Miss some of my fav teachers' classes..Wish i have the chances to attend their classes again, but at a center which i feel more comfortable with, not that one....><|

Hi all my dear friends,

I'm back. Wow, here has started some interesting topic about the teachers at Yogaloft....

I like the comments from le and the Anonymous (27 Oct @ 5:16pm) that each of us has our individual's favourite teacher, so just attend the classes we like. Moreover, Zen, Dawid, Sean from Yogaloft and Thomas from Light Yoga are so kind providing free classes now. We should appreciate it. Good to comment and share opinions but like what le said, "jangan bergaduh" oh...

Would it be easier to recognize our friends here at least with a nickname. A bit hard to trace and remember the anonymous at DD/MMM and HH:MM... Thanks and enjoy your discussion ^_^

Anonymous said...

Why so many anonymous here? Don't you guy has a name!

Hi Yogalover,

I would like to advise you to set 'Registered Users - includes OpenID' option in 'Who Can Comment?' blog setting.

So that everyone will use his own id to give comments, it's easier to identify anyone here and also we are more responsible for the comments we give.

Even better if you force us to use Google account by setting 'Users with Google Accounts' option, this will get rid of fake id, which has happened in yogajess blog before.

yogababy said...

I totally agree with fei, Yogalover, reset your account. So that ppl leave comments with ID. Be responsible for your comments, esp when giving negative remarks/comments.

If the teacher doesn't align you, that means you are doing it the right way, so why feel despair? Should be happy that you are doing it with proper alignment, it doesn't mean the teacher favors others. Some students doesn't like to be touched. Anyway, the teachers are giving free lessons, why complaint?? My personal experience at my private class in my condo, when I ask the teacher to align the students, the teacher said " Oh, so all of you don't mind if I touch you to align?" Of course not,we won't bite. Maybe you need to tell the teachers that you'd like to be aligned... duh.

I knew Zen when she was a consultant & not as a teacher, she doesn't seem to be like someone that favors.

If the teacher is good looking or beautiful, does that give practitioner more inspiration to yoga as compared to teachers that are not good looking? Would you choose to go to a class with teacher with good teaching skills or looks? I think I'd be distracted with a male teacher that is too good looking, ha ha. The most important is the teacher that has good teaching skills. Some teachers are really good themselves, but doesn't execute teaching in a good way. So choose your preferred teachers!!!

Anonymous said...

Hey yogababy,love the way you said,cheers!! ;p

Hi Fei and YogaBaby,

Thanks for your kind advice. In fact, I thought of this to restrict the comment column when I first received the nonsense with rude comments.

However, thought of giving easier way for everyone to comment as some of the users do not have registered ID and this will discourage them to comment as they might reluctant to take extra steps to registered themselves. I also have friends asked me how to put on their comments (even I open this with all options as some of them are only readers and never participate in comment before). Moreover, I think if a culprit with the intention to jeopardize or destroy, he/she may also create a fake Google ID as well...

As a result, I just let it open but been trying my very best to monitor and control it by cleaning those nonsense comments here (those anonymous with rude comments should know what I meant here...)

So far I think it is still fine and manageable. I will definitely take your advice to restrict it or make it as member zone if they are being too much or extreme and out of my control....

I just hope at least everyone can put their initial or nickname on the comments, so that we can recognize you and make new friends. I'm really glad to know some new friends here like Fei (a nice, aggressive, helpful and informative lady), YogaBaby (a kind and genuine yoga lover that started Yin Yang Yoga classes at Bukit Ceylon), Catepillar (a pratitioner with 2 little yoga kids), Samantha (a friendly young yoga lover who has joined Ojas Yoga), le (a wise lady who said fallen in love in my blog, haha... She is also one of the pratitioners at Tmn Tasik Permaisuri), YiLing (a good pratitioner who always opened to ask for information), mang0 (wow, a young lady that can perform a lot of nice and difficult yoga postures), lyi (a nice helpful yoga lady that just joined Ojas Yoga, her yoga blog is informative about yoga), cutiecate (should be ex-YZ CP and is a coffee lover as well), hello kitty (a regular participant here who give positive comments and information) and a lot more that can't mention all here...

Hi qq,

No worry, I know you are a good commentator to share your personal opinion here. Appreciate your participation here. Thanks ^_^

==============================
Hi cute,

Thanks for reading this blog and voice out your feeling here as well. You must be a kind yoga lover who respect the teachers very much, me too.

I think you might be upset reading this quote by qq "but kinda arrogant face, can feel that she only talks to selected person...", right? I believe qq has no intention to complain any teacher here. In fact, I found she gave compliment to all of them but with a little comment about Zen with her personal opinion. She did mention that Zen not bad too... Moreover, she apologized to you if unintentional hurt with any of her words. Only wise people will apologize. If she was a culprit, she will be glad to put on more fire and start the war...

I respect you too, because you are a kind yoga lover that appreciate so much to those volunteered teachers on these free classes and brave to voice out if you find or think anything is not right. The above must be just a minor misunderstanding. Hope we all can have chance to meet up and practice yoga together.

CHEERS ^_^

Hi wink and yap,

Welcome any of your comments here.

I personally believe that every human is very unique and can't get everyone has the same opinion. Even twin brothers and sisters could have different behaviour too. As such, everyone should be open minded and free to talk and comment here to share. Just not to be too harsh to attack and insult anyone.

Hope my answer is fair to everybody here.

CHEERS ^_^

Hi YogaBaby,

You are not only kind, but is very very very kind and genuine yoga lover who has put in so much effort in arranging the yoga classes at your apartment pool side at Bukit Ceylon. You have tried your very best not to let YZ's incident to affect or stop the practitioners' yoga spirit. You also encourage and motivate the practitioners by putting up the photos and good comments in your blog. I'm a regular visitor to your blog too...

Have a nice working week ahead! Cheers ^_^

Anonymous said...

hey hi morning, feel touch to cute, wonder qq how's her/his slept last night..maybe wokeup by her own arrogant face ;)

Anonymous said...

I really dun understand what u ppl wants?? those day when we r facing YZ crisis, every1 is starting up war in every blog! now crisis over, new yoga studio coming up, ur favorite teacher r back 2 studio class, but ppl still fighting over all these like & dislike thing!! come on, do yoga!!!!

the other thing, as a KBC would like 2 mention: not 2 say that when u follow closely 2 a specific instructor, then u can do yoga as good as the instructor!!! if ur instructor is david swenson or simon borg, is that mean u can do all postures does by them??

yoga mind!!

Yoga Lover said...

Hi ling,

As mentioned, it could be just a minor misunderstanding only and qq already apologized if unintentionally hurt anyone. I believed cute got the message already.

Hope everyone comes here to share your joys of yoga practice and experience. Like what yogamind?? said, YZ's crisis already over and a number of new studios came up. So, look for the place and teachers you like and prefer to continue yoga.

Wish everyone enjoy your yoga classes. CHEERS ^_^

yogababy said...

Hi Yogalover,

I look forward to reading your blog. For sometime now, it has been just updates, but this week has been interesting with all the 64 comments as I write.

It's interesting to read what ppl has to say, whether it's positive or negative. Infact, its because of some of the negative comments about YZ and now Urban Yoga that is holding me back from signing up with UY. Eventhough, there's yoga at my condo, 2x a week, it's simply not enough to keep in shape & practice regularly.

I've been "saem-ci-ci" for a few months now. To sign up with UY or not? What do you think? Oh well, of course I do practice on my own time, but then, I only do asanas that I can do & don't challenge myself. Like yesterday, on my own b4 class, I tried & tried doing Crow & Tripod but only lifted the feet up a little & cannot hold for more than 5 sec. This morning, my arms & shoulders are aching... ha ha.

So how leh? Other places are too far for me to travel & not familiar with the surrounding area.

yogababy said...

& with negative, comments, whether its true or not, at least you have some sort of idea what THAT person might be... if not, ppl won't talk bad about you. I mean there are so many other teachers, but their name is not mentioned negatively in the blog. So, maybe there are some truth in it.

Infact, 1 practioner asked me to hire Serena. Eventhough I only attended her class once & I liked her teaching, but I hesitated.

Another practioner also requested for Ethan, cox he's good looking & great bodz. I think he's a really good teacher & I enjoyed his class too but I don't have his contact no.

Some other also requested for Matthew, Angie, etc. But I only have 2 classes a week, how to get so many teachers?? Plus I am happy with the current teachers, kind, friendly, good teachers + dedicated to their yoga practise + most important free from gossips!!!

Unknown said...

Hi yogababy,
Pls dont hire Serene, she is so busy to run for so many centres. I dont want to miss her class anymore.

Yoga Lover said...

Hi YogaBaby,

Agree that should be opened for comments and opinions. In fact I wish more comments here instead of just my own updates (bored sometimes). No one is right or wrong as different people has differnt point of view, just sharing. Nice to know more, but not fighting with xxxx words oh, as I scare and hate to see this kind of words, haha...

How many more teachers you want to invite to your place for teaching?

I have the same feeling like you. So far, I have only attended 1 free class at UY CP (the 1st day they re-open). I thought I would sign-up immediately of it's opening as the package of RM88 sounds very reasonable but don't know why didn't attend the classes yet to sign up. Not sure being slightly influenced by some negative comments here earlier or the schedule not fixed. But I will still consider it, may find out more and sign-up later...

yogababy said...

I am happy with the current teachers. As I am not running a business, I don't have a huge crowd to support so many teachers. Wish to have more supporters to hire more teachers, but currently, that is not the case.

Hopefully, in time, the crowd will grow & then can have 3x a week & hire another teacher. But of course, not those that has too many jobs juggling between studios.

Unknown said...

I strongly think that yoga instructors should not force or push their students beyond their limit and also should not practice favouritism. I would like to bring this matter out as I attended few classes of Jessie in Cheras Plaza. I am really dissapointed with her because she practice favouritisme especially to one lady whom I knowis running a yoga center as well.

Unknown said...

Hi Yoga Lover,

I always with you, you still feel bored ar? hehe..

Thanks for the compliments you gave to me and all the friends here.

You were right, I'm aggressive, but too aggressive, I can't tolerate if anyone trying to hurt others feeling especially the teachers without any rational reasons. like Serena and Zen, I'm begging whoever did this, pls stop it now, it's enough.

Yoga Lover, I quite admire the way you handle our comments, you never get agitated by all the bad comments, always look ppl in the positive side. I always learn from you.

Thanks for all the latest info you provide in the blog, i know it's not easy for a lady to run around to gather so much info for us. I really appreciated it.

Pls keep up the good works!

yogababy said...

In my opinion, if the instructor is experienced, they will know if the students has the capability to reach out/bend or stretch more than they could. Maybe, some students need a little more encouragement. Where else, some just hates being pushed beyond their capabilities?

It takes time to achieve whatever you can't achieve now. Then you must tell the teacher, they are not psychic to know if you hate it or want it.

Unknown said...

To just,

Jessie is a kind and great teacher. I dont' agree that she practices favoritism. She maybe pay more attention to the advanced students in her power class, coz she want them more excel in yoga. But she also not forget the beginners, there are a lot of adjustment in the element class for the beginners. Of course, if you attend her power class, you must up to the level to perform her power postures, it's not easy in her power class. Many of us mati after the class le..

Anyhow pls check your level, choose the class wisely. It's really not fair to blame the teacher for ignoring some of us.

Anonymous said...

hey fei through my experience as i m not new in yoga i felt tat jessie hatha1 class is more tough than power class and lots students will leave her class after half an hour. she didn't care bout all the beginner students, cos i feel suffering lot when attending her classes.

Anonymous said...

yup i agree with what kaneishero mentioned, me had attended her different class for few times to judge my level but i found is very hard to follow her styles, still more i paying the installment for GC everymonth.

Anonymous said...

Hi Yogalover, surprised that my name being mentioned here. Do you attend yoga class at OJAS recently? I'm enjoying practise yoga over there as most of my favourite teachers are teaching at this studio.

Just some little comments here.

Is the outlook of a yoga teacher important? Handsome or not, pretty or not, will it does matter? The most important should be "inside". Please don't judge people from outlook. For adjustment, it depends on the situation. Sometimes, you may in the perfect position, adjustment is needless. Sometimes, your flexibility may not reach the level that can be adjusted, it will hurt you instead of helping you. In that situation, you have to build up the flexibility by your own. Don't mind if the teacher adjust others but not you. Should you have any problems in performing a prosture, you may raise up your questions after the class, all the yoga teachers are willing to help.

Attend to the yoga class teaches by your favourite teacher, that's make you really enjoy the whole class and gain the benefits by practising yoga. How you going to concentrate in the class if you keep "scolding" the teacher in your heart? =) Just ignore the teachers who you don't like. Why suffer yourself by attending class that teach by someone who you don't like? You have the choice.

Sometimes, just try to stand on others' position for judging. It is not an easy job to be a yoga teacher. Respect others as you respect yourself. =)

Enjoy practising yoga!

Samantha here.

When I first started practising yoga, the teachers had to adjust my poses so many times it was embarrasing! After a while, the 'adjustments' got lesser. I'd like to think that I have improved over time - thanks to the dedicated teachers. From time to time, the teachers will gently push a little here and there so that I can slowly move to more advance level. It really gives me a great sense of achievement. At times, when I feel that I have achieved my limit and cannot be pushed further, I will just tell the teacher. I think we will feel discontented if we start observing and comparing ourselves with other practitioners around us.

I also noticed that having a small class helps a lot. I am sure it is difficult for a teacher in a class of 30-40 students to have to 'adjust' each and every student (whether to correct poses or helps you move to advance level) at every asana. I have benefitted a lot from small classes.

Wld be great if some teachers share their experience too on this blog, on the issue of 'adjustments'.

Wah! So popular my favorite blog! Thanks Yogalover, your compliment really make my day, I always think I'm not that wise because I was ex YZ GC member still serving RM200 per month, you know what I mean ha ha.. I also would like to share my recent experience but kinda an unhappy one, hope you don't mind. Actually, I've more than 10 favorite teachers (very greedy ya) all of them have their own unique strength (hopefully one day I can master the essence from each of them hahaha) & most of them having their own small studio or teaching in few clubs. One of my favorite teachers is very kind providing free outdoor yoga, but during his class he never mention about his own studio instead several times promoting UY, he even brought many of us to UY after his outdoor yoga last Sunday. Because of his assurance, I joined UY despite many negative comments about it. Yesterday evening I rushed to his power class but was told his name was removed from UY timetable, i heard.. reason being he stole UY member to his club ...Ahhhhh??? he is the one who recruited me to UY! I'm the good live example that he helps UY to recruit. Hope that the issue can be resolved amicably soon. I always trust UY should have full confident that it has competition edge in term of large good envirionment studios, low fee, unlimited free flow class, number of teachers & location, why afraid of small studio? Yoga business should have healthy competition...if got some more members joining other clubs, how many good teachers will be removed? a bit worry now...

Hi Yogalover

Great to see so many comments in your blog!. Guess everyone needed a place to voice out their opinions and frustrations. Anyway, just to give my two cents worth. I think some practitioners sees it as favouritism when a teacher do more adjustments or talk to someone. But is it because you never talk to the teacher yourself? I find that some teachers will only do adjustments for the student if they know the student don’t mind being touch. And if you talk to the teacher about your problems, especially if you have any back pain, etc. the teacher will try to make sure that you are comfortable in the poses. For the advanced students, the teacher will try to help them go deeper into the pose if he or she feels that they are ready for it.

The next time when a teacher comes to adjust you, don’t tense up or resist him or her, just breathe, you will realize how much further you can go down with his or her help.

le,
Yes, I fully agree what u said.

hi le, do u mean thomas? why UY don wan him?

Anonymous said...

Hi le I know who is the instructor you mentioned. I can rest assure thomas never ever promote his studio during class as I attend almost every of his class. I 100% believe thomas wouldn't do that. Politics kills the innocent one. Urban sucks!!

You know thomas keep encourge us to join urban, I have never heard him promote a word of lightyoga and urge us to join. When I told him I wanted to join his studio last couple days, he told me not to and encourage me to attend more classes and named a few instructors. See what urban did to him! What he get in return? Urban really sucksss!!!

We support urban, however this is what urban pay back to instructor and members.

Hi leona, same thought here. I hate to curse but urban really @#%*&!!!

Wow, it's really a good topic here about the students' flexibility, perform posuture beyond limit, favoritism and etc. Everyone has a very good comment and hope any of the yoga teachers can give some comments or advice here as well.

Hi Fei,

Thanks for your compliment and also your support here all the time. With you all nice friends here, I won't feel bored anymore.

Ya, you are aggressive, informative and like to fight for justice if you find anything unfair. Just a bit straight forward sometimes which some ppl may not able to take it, but I'm fine and can take it, haha.. So, should I call you Justice Fei next time, haha...?

============================
Hi Samanthha,

Glad to see your comment here again. So far, I only attended 3 Sun classes at Ojas as unable to make it on weekdays. Will try to arrange my schedule to attend more as the classes there sound interesting.

You are not only friendly, but also can comment wisely. I like your comment here and believe a lot of teachers would agree to you too.

==============================
Hi le,

You are a wise lady and I said so because from the way you comment here. Most of us here are conned by YZ, just because we love yoga. So, take it as a lesson. Only sad to hear that you are still servicing the installment of RM200 per month...

Don't be too worry as it would affect health. Some of the things are beyond our control and worry would just become another burden. So, just try our best to plan those are within our control. If you find it is true that UY treated Thomas unfair in this case, you may still join Light Yoga later as UY is fair now by charging in monthly basis. You should not be caught in the situation of long term payment like YZ. If you later find comfortable with UY, then you may still continue. Take it easy and enjoy your outdoor yoga.

Hi Karin (yoga &wellness),

Glad to see you here again. Long time not hearing your comment already.

Thhanks for your opinion here and I have the same thought as you too.

Hi harrynana,

Hi Yoga Lover,

Pls don't call me justice,
In fact, you are the justice and police here, only you can make us behave ourselves, censor the bad-mouthed comments here.

I can see less anonymous comments and more polite messages now, It's a good sign.

Yup! Got it! I always take it easy, that's why I'm still laughing haha. Thanks Yogalover for your wise advice

There is still no announcement on yogaloft's website regarding their opening on 1st nov this coming saturday, are they really opening this sat?otherwise?Any trial classes on opening day?

Anonymous said...

Dear ALLLLL Yoga Loverssss,

Don't worry, i heard that yogaloft will be opend in the month of nov but not necessarily 1st of nov, so just be patient and wait for the good thing la.

The thing that i am more concern is who will be teaching there, you all know lah not every teacher out there is good, hope that they will get some good teacher (any suggestion)..... Actually, i sincerly hope that they will, such a big organisation and big set up, they should have a strong teacher base, nice surrounding, good atmosphere and professional service. If they can achieve this, i will definitely look forward to give them a try.

Cheers.................

UY need to do prevention b4 cured is correctly way. Those hv their own studio is really strictly not allow to teach. That is common sense. Think about it, why YZ closed? Never scanning their teacher.

jessie is a nice teacher...she came approach n advise me after class as im really a weak student...im appreciate her a lot..

Yoga Lover said...

Hi all,

Don't worry. As what Angel's say, yogaloft is opened in the month of Nov but not necessary is on the 1st Nov.

Just received an update that yogaloft will delay the opening but should be somewhen before mid of Nov. They will also have a press conference on 5th Nov where the chief strategist officer of etsu will be there to introduce yogaloft to the public.

One more thing to highligt - Remembered someone from etsu wellness commented here that their brand name is all in "small letter words" (lower case), means "etsu" and not "Etsu". I received the same message this morning that etsu has their branding identity, so we should address "yogaloft" in small letters as well and not "Yogaloft".

Another great news is there will have a new yoga guru from FF, Manasa joining yogaloft and she will also be teaching at the KJ outdoor yoga this Sunday.

Hope the above clarify your doubt and also the branding of etsu and yogaloft.

Can't deny what you said is true. From my point of view, things should be done in proper way with proper reason but not nonsense, esp in terms of termination.

Hi Anonymous (31 Oct @ 9:12am),

Sorry for late reply as busy at work this whole day.

As be informed last week, the Wed class at Kelana Jaya lakeside already called off as the teachers there are busy in helping the setup of yogaloft. Anyway, you may reconfirm with them when you attend their outdoor yoga class this Sunday (2nd Nov). Fyi, there is a new guru on this Sunday class, so don't miss it and enjoy the practice ^_^

Cheers ^_^

Hi Kaneishero,

I think this anonymous must be a new visitor (that's why no nickname/initial indicated yet, haha...), so could overlook my message about the yogaloft Wed class. Sometimes, some new visitors might not read all as a starter, too many info and comments. Unlike some of the loyal and regular visitors like you all, follow the stories so well. Thanks for regular visit.

I know you are humurous, but don't scare off my new visitors oh! Thank you.

Of course I choose a class which suits my level. I have no problems with other instuctors' power yoga classes cos they give equal attention to all members not a particular one.

As we know, yoga is enjoying an immense renaissance across the world - we know about Bikram's Hot Yoga, Lotus Pose, general physical pretzelling and oh so much about where to buy yoga clothes, yoga mats, even yoga gear for our pets! However, the history of yoga is a rich tapestry which deserves some mention. So without further ado, let us begin near the beginning.
