Earth Hour 8:30-9:30pm on 28 March 2009 Saturday

Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

It was pioneered by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald (a daily broadsheet newspaper published by Fairfax Media in Sydney, Australia) in 2007 with 2.2 million homes and businesses turning off their lights for an hour in between 7:30pm to 8:30pm on 31 Mar 2007 Saturday. Many Sydney icons were switched off for the hour including the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House sails and the Luna Park face. According to Energy Australia, there was a 10.2% reduction in electricity consumption across the Sydney CBD for the 60 minutes Earth Hour 2007.

This event had grown into a global sustainability movement by the following year of 2008 and achieved worldwide participation up to 100 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.

In 2009, the Earth Hour will be at 8.30pm local time on 28 March, Saturday. Hope the people across the world to turn off their lights and join together in creating the vital conversation about the future of our precious planet. The iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to The Americas will stand in darkness at that one hour.

Dear yogalover,

I had listened to what you said, not to translate the "rubbish" ( which i was not too sure for the previous postings ), however, I can guess a little bit the war has begun again.

I can understand the frustration if I were you and this is already beyond the practice of yoga, it's about war started by two groups of yoga practitioners, the sinful ones, that has slowly deteriorate the yoga culture in Malaysia and may eventually ruined the reputation and the faith in this practice, that eventually leads to the road of no turning back.

Putting business elements aside, I believe all those who posted comments to attack each other can be thoroughly filtered out ( which I considered them as the dirtiest blogger ), your yoga blog can then flourish with genuine information and genuine readers that will appreciate your hard work. There's no point to be popular in the "clicks" or "view times" as this figure already included those who came with different intention and agenda.

I strongly urge you to have all those who want to comment in your blog to be registered users, this will definitely save you a lot of work from keep on disabling the comment box.

yogalover, you are blessed with the guardian of yoga practice to have the most popular yoga blog in Malaysia. I would like to see your blog works well and better in the future because I love this yoga sanctuary very much, with lots of informative postings and constructive comments.

Namaste

If I am right, one of the main reasons this blog and the Yoga Jess blog were popular was due to the YZ fiasco. Thus more than 98% of the comments or access were by YZ members & staff(plus ex-staff). They are those who have been cheated by way of membership fees and unpaid salaries, EPF & Tax. I heard of one teacher being prevented from leaving the country at the immigration(point of exit)because of unpaid taxes by YZ and staff being chased out of their apartment due to unpaid rental by YZ. I am sure there were many of such cases not reported. In view of the significant number of members, it would be difficult to avoid cheated members or staff of their hard earned money from venting their anger via available blog. Some of you may be rich or fairly well-to-do or were just plain lucky due to timing of expiry of membership. A few thousands may be little to you all but not to those affected members or staff(some with unpaid salaries up to tens of thousands). Do you notice that there were complete silence for quite a while when TJ or LG or UY were not mentioned. This proved my point above. Just log on to Yoga Jess and see what happen to the no.of visitors now compared to previously? Rascals like them must be condemned and exposed to ensure that less new ignorant ones will be cheated again. They should not be allowed to set up new businesses to cheat again. However, comments regarding their family should not be allowed unless they are a party to the cheating game. This blog must also ensure that outlets related directly or indirectly to these rascals are not promoted here. See what happen to the two outlets promoted highly here? They will never change! Actually there are so many good outlets for Yoga around Klang Valley. Prices are fairly reasonable and being charged monthly. These includes those by previous teachers of YZ and fitness centers(like california fitness-mid valley outlet). Be more open minded. Don't just stick to YZ route. You are sure to learn and experience new things. If this TJ is innocent, he being a 90%(if true) should pursue the petition to set aside the receivership and claim for damages. He actually announced in the press and TV around September 08 but no update todate. Must have chicken out after reading through the affidavits of the petitioner. Prove me wrong!

I totally agree with RAMUNA to filter those comments that attack one another. Their anger n hatred of whom going against their faith is growing fierce and it makes me worry. Finally, I sincerely hope the warriors to calm down, avoid using harsh words, you can just put your comment like 'I dun agree with you'.This is more harmonious. Lastly, I wish all the readers stay healthy n happy always.

Dear Ramuna, Ex-YZ and Anonymous (23 Mar 2009 @ 8:43pm),

Many thanks for all your kind advice and support all this while. Finally I can read some comments with human sense here.

Really tired with all those harsh words, dirty language, anger and garbage... Would take an urgent action towards this matter to save my blog! Here should be a peaceful place to share the joy of yoga and also to create the awareness and reminders for not being ignorant and not being cheated again.

Will restrict the comment soon, one step at a time and hope it is controlable.

Once again, many thanks for your kind advice.

Have a nice working week ahead :)
